The National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET) recognizes the exceptional dedication displayed by the recipients of the NASET Outstanding Special Education Teacher Award. The award is bestowed on teachers throughout the United States through nominations by their respective school or district administrators, colleagues, and parents. Candidates are judged based on the following criteria: Teaching—curriculum development; engagement with students in educational activities (outside of classroom); other demonstrations of quality teaching; relationships with students, parents, colleagues, administrators, and others; teaching honors, awards, or recognition; teaching innovations. Service (outside of classroom)—community service and other areas of service; service honors, awards, or recognition; service to professional organizations; service within school district; Professional Activities—awards or certifications; membership or participation in professional organizations; other contributions to the profession; professional development or continued education publication; research.
Deadlines: May 1, 2017, for nominations
