We had so many talented nominees this month, it was really difficult to select one winner for each category! We’re very excited to introduce you to our February winners!

Megan Owen
Burleson High School

Tell us THREE random, interesting facts about you that we’d be surprised to learn!

I am the longest serving Elk Strutter director (my 10th year). I enjoy reading and cooking. I have a 4 year old daughter.

What’s Your Why?

I wanted to do something with my life that felt important and meaningful- I didn’t want to “just make money”.

What has been your proudest teaching moment?

My proudest teaching moment is any time that I see my former students succeeding.

Tell us why/how you make technology a priority in your classroom or campus?

I love making my own life (and my students’ lives) easier through the use of technology. It’s like a puzzle to me- how can I automate this or how can I make this more efficient? I also enjoy finding new tools or new ways of doing things and sharing them with my students.

What is your ALL TIME favorite tech tool?

Screencastify- I can video my students and go back and give them personal critiques over their work.

Please share with us your most successful tech-integrated lesson or program/initiative and tell us a little bit about that experience:

My upper level dance class had to choreograph a routine to Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech. They performed their pieces for the rest of the class in front of the video of the speech being projected on the wall behind them. The students really got into this project and I was impressed with their work and commitment.
