Quite often, I get booked for an appointment and I when I ask the educator about the purpose of the appointment the answer is, “I want to use — tool because I have a walk through or an evaluation coming up.” As a Learning Technologies Coach, my job isn’t to teach educators and students about tools, it is to teach educators and students about technology integration. Yes, I can demonstrate a tool, but the tool needs to fit the purpose of the lesson and the standard being taught.
Technology is a great way to engage students and get them involved, but just as an educator should question does the tool used help the learner to achieve the learning target, the educator should also look at how effective the overall lesson is.
