As BISD continues to commit to the BISD 1:You learning device program, there will be continued efforts to integrate technology and learning devices at all levels. For our youngest learners, we are working on integrating touch screen devices such as Kindle Fire tablets. Some classrooms have these or other touch screen devices due to grants or previous purchases however going beyond the app and into more creative uses for these can be challenging.
Check out these ideas for integrating touch screen learning devices into your classroom experience. These could be done on the carpet as a whole group, in small groups working with teachers at tables or desk clusters, or in the halls as students wait to transition from classroom to other learning opportunities or for assemblies, testing, etc. Think about how you can utilize lost time (restroom breaks, hearing screenings, etc.) to offer your students opportunities to show what they know.
