I need feedback.

On Thursday, July 20, I’ll host a two-hour professional-development session for Burleson ISD teachers. The topic: “Be Distinguished: Professional Portfolio Basics”, which highlights how educators can create a portfolio to showcase lesson plans, lesson activities, and other products that demonstrate steps toward Distinguished designations on T-TESS. (For all you non-Texas types, T-TESS is the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System. It’s the statewide educator appraisal system for Texas teachers.)

During Thursday’s training, I’ll use Google Classroom to deploy three 30-minute learning stations – one to cover portfolio creation (Google Sites, Blogger, or Google Slides); another to address T-TESS’s correlation to the 4 Cs (communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking); and a final learning station to address ways teacher self-reflection can be worked into the portfolio. Three groups of four teachers will rotate through the stations simultaneously so that one group is working on each station at all times.

Here’s where you can help. I’ve just completed the second learning station, which I started first because it was the easiest to tackle. Please review what you see, and toss me any questions, comments, wisecracks, or, otherwise, valuable feedback on what I’m asking colleagues to learn.

Thanks in advance for any help you provide.

T-TESS and the 4 Cs: Feedback Needed for a PD Learning Station

I think it looks great. It doesn’t require participants to read too much, and the information that is provided is relevant. I immediately started brainstorming ideas of how I’d present this information without even being at the training. One thing that I did see is on slide 4 communication is listed twice as part of the 4 Cs (Creativity is left off). Other than that, it should be a successful and interesting station.

Kristen: Thank you for your comment. I corrected slide 4, so it now includes “creativity” in the list of 4 Cs. I’m currently busy crafting the other two stations. I’ll post those in a blog and request feedback when I’m done. I appreciate your help.
